About Football Loco Signs

Football Loco Signs was established as a result of a casual conversation about a brass locomotive plaque. It transpired that it had been reproduced many years ago by a dad who wanted to gift his son a replica of a  'B17 football train' name plate of his favourite club, the ideal gift for a football / steam train mad young boy.

The nostalgic interest shown by passionate football fans made it clear that there was a gap in the market for football memorabilia that replicated these unique train name plates, so this led to the first batch been hand made. While our aim was to stay faithful to the original designs, we started receiving requests for other teams, which we decided to offer as 'special editions' along with other sports and personalised bar signs.

Initially, there were 25 'football trains', with an additional 2 later being added when two of the previously 'Stately Home' named trains were re-named. When the trains were de-commissioned in the middle of 1960 many of the original name plates were given to their respective clubs, a handful of which are still in existence hanging in some clubs to this day including Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich City & Sunderland.
