A Short History of the B17 Football Trains

In the 1930's the LNER brought into service 25, B17/4 steam locomotives which had been designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. These were all named after the most prominent football clubs at the time, along the East coast main line and were affectionately known as the 'Footballers'. Two more were brought into the fold a few years later after being re-named from the original Stately home named B17s. When the trains were decommissioned and scrapped in the middle of the 1960's quite a number of the nameplates were presented to their respective football clubs, many of whom still have them proudly on display, including Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspurs and Norwich City,

Football and cricket are our main passions and of course being based in Yorkshire we have to say, we are mad Yorkshire Cricket and 'Owls' fans, but don't let that put you off. We are more than happy to make any club for you. We not only do the more popular well known clubs but we also love to produce our nostalgic signs to represent local amateur clubs too.
